LONG TERM CARE FINANCE ASSOCIATION'S SCHOLARSHIPS WINNERS 2022, IN MEMORY OF KEVIN J. BUCKLEY2
In memory of and honor to our long time board member, Kevin J. Buckley we are naming our three annual scholarships in his name.
Kevin was a Board member of LTCFA from 2005 until his passing in December of 2020. Kevin was passionate in educating and helping people within the Long Term Care industry. Kevin was a dedicated volunteer.
He served on numerous committees including the Program Committee, Membership Committee and the Scholarship Committee. In his final year he served as the Vice President of the organization.Kevin also planned and led several seminars and presentations given by LTCFA ranging in topics from Payroll Based Journal Reporting to the intricacies of Billing and Collection.
Kevin’s commitment and dedication to LTCFA were of the highest caliber, and we continue to be indebted to Kevin for the inspiring example he provided. Kevin continues to be missed by many.
Scholarship award winners 2022
Perg Kpannah works for Notre Dame Health Care Hospice as a C.N.A for over 18 years. She also cares her 85 year old mother living with her. She has a passion for caring for people. She is originally from Liberia and appreciates an opportunity to help others at the same time furthering her education. She has been admitted to Quinsigamond Community College for her pre-nursing program to be a Registered Nurse. She loves her job caring for people.
Susan Strandburg (Notre Dame LTC), Scholarship winner Krug Sharrow Kpannah, John Enos
Mark Moses works as environmental Services Manager at Notre Dame Health Care. He moved to Worcester where he was an advocate for the elderly as a member of the Area 4 Coalition. However, in order to become a professional counselor he needed to complete his degree. He had previously completed some of his courses at Bunker Hill Community College. He wants to give back the support he found in his life to those who need help, to help them find ways to gain self-confidence, and feel loved as these were denied him as a child.
He is widow with three children. Since he was a young teenager his passion and strong desire was always to help people and to become a Social worker. Even now family and friends come to him for advice and seek a shoulder to lean on. Certain traumatic childhood experiences altered his life in a dramatic way. Since his wife’s passing due to cancer in 2010, he was more determined than ever to go back to school and complete his degree. He has been admitted to Quinsigamond Community College for a degree in Human Services. He hopes to be a Social Worker and continue to make a difference in people’s lives.
Mark Moses and John Enos
Rachel Nantume Ngobya is a Licensed Practical Nurse, employed at Bridges by EPOCH, Sudbury. She is married with four children. She is from Uganda. Her parents were peasant farmer of low social income constantly struggling to bring up and give the family good education, caring for their health and meet all basic needs of a big family.
It was always her great dream to live and work in USA. For seven years she participated in the Green card lottery program without losing hope. During the 8th year she was luckily selected. She believes that dedicated nursing profession needs one to acquire new knowledge, be able to understand thoroughly the state mandated policies and procedures ensure that not only herself but also her fellow nurses adhere to these guidelines.
She promises to uphold the ideas of this career while continuing to serve and display the importance of a nurse. Her experience, life has taught her to live by the Jungle law, survival for the fittest. She is willing to strive hard to be the fittest to overcome challenges to become a Registered Nurse. She has been admitted to ESSENTIAL School of Nursing, Inc., Florida for a Registered Nurse program.
